World of Warcraft is getting auction house customization in favor of smaller servers

Blizzard is going to make an adjustment for all realms for some of the items shown in the auction house. The commodity listings are shared across the region and are no longer server specific.

Blizzard reports on the official World of Warcraft forum that it involves items such as gems, spices, bottles and consumables. These items will be available through the auction house for all servers within a specific region. Items that are not classified as commodities, such as armor pieces and weapons, are restricted in the auction house to only the players of a specific realm. This change will first be available on the public test server.

The developer writes that the auction house will still feel exactly the same, with the change that there will be many more buyers and sellers. This will mainly have an impact on relatively smaller servers. There are more large price fluctuations and prices are usually higher because there is less supply and demand.

Furthermore, a new chat channel will be available: Trade (Services). Players can use this channel to search for and advertise opportunities to undertake raids, enter dungeons, and engage in player-versus-player activities. The existing trade channel will be maintained; the new channel is purely intended to bundle the activities mentioned there.
