World of Warcraft General Manager John Hight is leaving Blizzard

John Hight, the senior vice president and general manager of the World of Warcraft franchise, is leaving Blizzard. Hight worked at the studio for twelve years. It is not yet known what the CEO will do after his departure from Blizzard.

Hight announced on Thursday via social media platform X that he is leaving Blizzard. “After twelve incredible years at Blizzard, I have decided to embark on a new quest. It was a difficult decision, but I feel now is a good time to leave. Warcraft is doing great as the franchise turns 30 ” writes the developer. It is not yet clear who will replace Hight after he leaves Blizzard.

John Hight joined Blizzard in 2011. He was the senior producer of the World of Warcraft expansion Mists of Panderia. He later became the production director for Diablo III: Reaper of Souls, Legion and Battle for Azeroth.

Before working at Blizzard, Hight taught game development at the University of California. In the years before that he worked for various studios, including Sony Computer Entertainment. There he contributed, among other things, to the development of God of War 3, which was released in 2010 for the PlayStation 3.
