Blizzard is releasing Burning Crusade Classic this year, a re-release of the first WoW expansion campaign from 2007, according to a leaked press release. World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade Classic will be released in parts.

World of Warcraft Classic gets a new campaign: The Burning Crusade Classic. This is stated in a press release that has been leaked. Blizzard is expected to make the news officially this weekend during BlizzCon. ArsTechnica writes that members of the WoW-Reddit community discovered the press release on Blizzard’s servers, including official images and description of what’s to come.

The campaign references the first WoW expansion in 2007 and is set in Outland. WoW Classic players can choose whether to continue with their characters in The Burning Crusade or to continue playing the vanilla version.

In the new campaign, heroes are sent to Outland to prevent the invasion of the Burning Legion. They can play as Blood Elfs or Draenei. Burning Crusade Classic also brings back old features such as the Arena PvP system, jewelcrafting and flying mounts. Players can take their character they are currently playing with in WoW Classic to Burning Crusade Classic’s official Blizzard servers. They can also continue to play on new Classic Era servers, which continue to provide the vanilla gaming experience.

The press release states that the campaign will be spread over 2021 and will be released in parts. Paid subscribers to World of Warcraft can play the new campaign at no extra cost, and as Blizzard says “at their own pace.”
