World champion in Donkey Kong claims improvement of own record
American Robbie Lakeman claims he has broken his own record in the original game Donkey Kong. Improving the previous record has yet to be confirmed. The new score is 1,247,700 points.
Lakeman set the new world record of 1,247,700 points on February 2 during a playing session that lasted three hours and 49 minutes. On video streaming site Twitch, his entire record attempt can be seen on an arcade machine. He reached 17,600 points more than during his previous record.
Twin Galaxies, the American organization that keeps the world record in games, has yet to officially confirm the record, but has already congratulated the gamer on his achievement. Lakeman has not yet officially submitted the score on the leaderboards, which is necessary for the recognition.
Lakeman’s previous record is December 21, 2017, when he scored 1,230,100 points during a game session that lasted three and a half hours. Twin Galaxies then confirmed his score on an official Donkey Kong scoreboard.
