With the A54 and A34, Samsung shows successors to two of its most popular phones
Samsung has released successors to two of its most popular phones from last year. The Galaxy A54 succeeds the A53, while the A34 succeeds the A33. The A52s and A53 were among the most popular Samsung phones in the Pricewatch last year.
The new phones have shorter screens and a wider housing than their predecessors, so according to the specifications that Samsung has put online. Instead of 20:9 displays, the screens now have a ratio of 19.5:9. The resolution remains at 1080p. The A34 now has a 120Hz screen, where the A33 has a 90Hz screen. In all cases, it concerns OLED screens. Samsung mentions that the brightness is higher, which should make the screens more visible in direct sunlight.
The A54 also has slightly wider screen edges than its predecessor, making it a considerably wider phone. The A34 is larger in all dimensions than its predecessor and, at 7.8cm, is one of the widest phones on the market.
Both phones are coming out this week. The A54 costs 489 euros at release for the cheapest version and 539 euros for the variant with 256GB of storage. That is slightly more than the A53 cost at release. The A34 comes out at 389 euros, also a few tens more than its predecessor. The A53 and A33, together with the A52s, S22 and S22 Ultra, were among the most popular Samsung phones in the Pricewatch last year.
