With new website, Google provides insight into the working method of its own open source projects
Google has launched a new website that provides insight into its approach to open source projects. In addition, the site contains an overview of all public projects of the search giant.
In the announcement, Google says that the site has several goals. For example, he must clarify which programs there are, which organizations Google supports and which open source projects the company has created. There is also a section on the new site where interested parties can find documentation on how the company handles these types of projects.
This concerns, for example, the ways in which a project can be set up. It covers topics such as naming, licensing, issue tracking, releasing patches and accepting contributions to projects. Google claims to have made as much internal documentation public as possible, but says that certain parts have been removed.
The overview of Google open source projects contains about 2,000 projects, including the TensorFlow machine learning library, the Go programming language and the well-known Android operating system.
