Wireless adapter for Xbox One controller now works with Windows 7 and 8.1
The wireless adapter that allows Xbox One controllers to be used with a Windows PC now works with Windows 7 and 8.1. When the adapter appeared in early November, only Windows 10 was supported.
Larry Hryb, chief executive of the Xbox Live team, makes the news known via Twitter. According to Hryb, the wireless adapter for the Xbox One controller now works with Windows 7 and 8.1. He does not disclose how the support will be added. Presumably, Microsoft will implement the adjustment with a software update.
When Microsoft released the wireless adapter in early November, it turned out to only work with Windows 10 PCs. It was not clear why Microsoft made this choice. The adapter costs 22.99 euros and works with both the standard Xbox One controller and the Elite variant.
