WinFuture: the back of the Samsung Galaxy S21 appears to be made of plastic, S21 + is made of glass

The back of the Samsung Galaxy S21 is probably made of plastic, while Samsung provides the S21 + with glass on the back. The German site WinFuture claims this on the basis of its own information. The site has put a full list of specs online.

WinFuture is still cautious about the plastic back of the S21, but about the material of the S21 + the site is sure that it will be glass. A choice of plastic would fit in with a trend in the smartphone market, where more and more models have a rear cover made of plastic instead of a glass back.

On the front is a flat screen with Gorilla Glass Victus over it, the site said. The OLED screens of the phones come to 1300 candela per square meter, a slightly higher brightness than the S20 models. The resolution is lower with 2400×1080 pixels, compared to 3200×1440 pixels of the S20 phones.

The phones come with the same camera setup, with a primary 12-megapixel camera with 1.8 micron pixels, good for a sensor size of around 39 square millimeters. The camera with ‘telephoto lens’ has an approximately the same size sensor of around 39 square millimeters, but has a much higher resolution with 64 megapixels. It is a larger sensor than in the S20 and S20 +. Zooming is done by cropping on that large sensor with many pixels. The ultra-wide-angle camera is the same as in the S20, according to WinFuture.

The European version gets an Exynos 2100-soc, with one processor core at 2.9GHz, three at 2.8GHz and four at 2.4GHz. Samsung adds 8GB of memory and 128GB or 256GB of storage. The phones should come out at the end of January. The prices are slightly lower than those of the S20 series: the S21 costs 849 euros, the S21 + must cost 1049 euros.
