Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2 have reached end-of-life status
Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2 are no longer officially supported by Microsoft since Tuesday. The server software will reach end-of-life status on October 10.
Microsoft has already announced end-of-life status for Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2 announced some time ago. The software will still work as of Tuesday, but will no longer receive security updates, bug fixes or new features. Technical support for customers will also stop.
Microsoft recommends operating system users upgrade to the newer Windows Server 2022 or move applications to an Azure environment. It is also possible to take a paid Extended Security Updates package. This allows users to pay for regular bug fixes. This can be purchased annually. ESU will be offered until October 12, 2026.
