Windows 11 virtual machines also require TPM 2.0 in beta
Microsoft has made Windows 11 Build 2200.194 available to Windows Insiders running the beta channel. The update mainly contains bug fixes, but from this release the presence of TPM 2.0 is also required when the OS runs on virtual machines.
With the release, Microsoft is aligning the system requirements for Windows 11 on physical PCs with those on virtual machines. Until now, the OS was able to run on virtual machines that did not meet the minimum hardware requirements, but with the cumulative update of the new beta release, that is changing and running VMs also requires TPM 2.0. The required presence of TMP 2.0 was unclear after the announcement, but Microsoft confirmed that the feature is indeed a requirement for the installation of Windows 11.
Windows 11 Insider Build 2200.194 is a release in the beta channel and is the version that will be available on October 5. Releases in the dev channel, which also received a new release this week with Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22458, are newer versions.
Release version 2200.194 also contains bug fixes. Fixed an issue that prevented users from activating Bluetooth after connecting to certain accessories.
