Windows 11 Insider Preview includes support for USB4 Version 2.0
Microsoft has released a new Insider Preview for Windows 11: build 23614. This version includes support for USB4 Version 2.0. The USB standard was announced in 2022 and supports a symmetrical bandwidth of 80Gbit/s.
The American software giant has also made a change to the Copilot software through this build. From now on, the AI tool will automatically open on PCs with a widescreen monitor. This can be adjusted again via the settings menu, says Microsoft.
Users who browse the web with Microsoft Edge, or any other browser that uses the Windows 11 share menu, will now also be able to use that share menu to share URLs via WhatsApp, Gmail, X, Facebook and LinkedIn. Windows 11 build 23615 also contains some bug fixes.
USB4 Version 2.0 was announced in late 2022 by the USB Implementers Forum. With USB4 V2.0, the bandwidth of 20Gbit/s is mandatory; Manufacturers can choose to support larger symmetrical bandwidths up to 80Gbit/s. An asymmetric bandwidth of 120Gbit/s is also possible via the standard.
