Windows 11 gets Game bar for quick access to games with controllers
Microsoft is working on a Windows 11 feature that will bring up a game bar that will give users quick access to recently played games and services like Origin and Steam. The controller bar can be called up within Windows Insiders by pressing the Xbox button on a controller.
As long as users are not in a game, pressing the Xbox button will show them the game bar. It consists of the icons of three recently played games and game launchers and makes it easier for gamers with a controller to call up recent games, reports Microsoft.
To use the controller bar, people need to run the latest Insider Preview Build from the Dev and Beta channels, install the Xbox Insider Hub and the latest version of Xbox Game Bar. Within the Previews section of the Hub, users must opt for the Windows Gaming preview and restart their PC.
The controller bar comes next to the Xbox Game Bar widgets overlay. That Xbox Game Bar will remain callable within games; the controller bar allows users to see outside games. It is unknown when the controller bar will come to the stable Windows 11 version.
