Windows 10 users report printing issues after security update
A new update for Windows 10 means that multiple users can no longer print from their operating system. The problem is in recent security updates for versions 1903, 1909 and 2004 of the OS.
The problem occurs with multiple users. In several posts on Reddit, users describe that they can no longer print documents. The problem is with multiple printers from HP, Brother, Canon and Panasonic and occurs in different places in the operating system. Users get an error message, or programs like the browser or PDF reader crash when they try to print something.
The issues appear to have arisen after the installation of two updates released during Patch Tuesday last Tuesday. These are KB4560960 for Windows 10 1903 and 1909, and KB4557957 for Window 10 2004, the May Update.
Microsoft has not yet officially responded to the issues. A support employee does say on a forum that the company is aware and is working on a solution. Meanwhile, users have also already discovered some detours. For example, it would help to replace the printer driver with the PCL6 driver. It is also possible to roll back the update, although that of course entails security risks.
