Windows 10 upgrade is easy to get for free from accessibility page
Although the period for the free upgrade to Windows 10 expired on July 29, the operating system is still available via a special page from Microsoft. To download this version, users only need to indicate that they are using accessibility options.
Microsoft had previously announced the option, but did not specify how long the deadline for this upgrade was extended and how this upgrade would take place. The upgrade to Windows 10 can be obtained on a special page. However, this does not appear to require any special action, other than a statement using ‘assisting technologies’. After that, there is the option to directly download the setup file.
The category for assistive technologies appears to be quite broad. For example, according to Microsoft, the use of keyboard shortcuts already falls under this type of use. The upgrade to Windows 10 was free for a long time, but now costs 135 euros for the Home version and 279 euros for the Pro version. It remains unclear how long the option to perform a free update will remain available.
Figures from Net Applications show that the share of Windows 10 has now exceeded twenty percent with 21.13 percent. There is no major peak in the month of July, but that may also be due to the time of the measurement. Windows 7’s share is slowly declining, but it remains the most popular operating system at 47 percent. Windows XP remains pretty stubborn around ten percent. The growth is not quite according to Microsoft’s expectations, as the company recently scrapped its target of 1 billion Windows 10 devices by 2018.
