Microsoft is starting to release the Windows 10 October 2018 Update. The second major update of this year includes several innovations, including the Your Phone app and improvements to Timeline.

Microsoft will phase the Windows 10 October 2018 Update to all users in the coming weeks. Users who want to download it as soon as possible are recommended to manually check for updates via the Update function of Windows. The update in question is Windows 10 build 17763 and the Windows version goes up to 1809.

When distributing the April update, Microsoft used machine learning to predict which systems the update could be installed on without any problems, and the Windows maker says it plans to do this even more with the October update. As with the April update, Microsoft will collect data globally as it updates computers and make adjustments if issues arise.

In a blog post, Microsoft explained all the changes in the October 2018 Update. New is a cloud function for the clipboard, so that copy and paste works across multiple synchronized devices. Furthermore, Microsoft adds Timeline extensions for Chrome and Firefox and the Your Phone app is part of the release. This application works with Android and iOS phones and makes it possible, for example, to quickly synchronize photos or send text messages from Windows.
