WhatsApp tests group conversations with up to 1024 participants
The latest beta version of WhatsApp allows some users to create group conversations with up to 1024 participants. Earlier this year, WhatsApp raised the limit to 512 participants per group conversation.
The increased maximum number of participants in group conversations is rolling out in the WhatsApp betas for Android and iOS, reports WABetaInfo. The feature appears to be available to a limited number of beta users. Users in the test will see a limit of 1024 participants when creating a group conversation on the chat service. It is unknown when the limit will be increased for all WhatsApp users.
The maximum number of participants in a WhatsApp group conversation was 256 before this summer, although the service already increased this amount to a maximum of 512 participants in June. By comparison, Telegram messaging service allows up to 200,000 users to join the same group conversation. With Signal, that number is a maximum of 1000 users.
