WhatsApp tests function to show photos and videos only once

WhatsApp has started a test with which users can only show or open photos and videos once. After that, the media disappears from the chat. It is possible to make screenshots of those photos and videos.

When a user has the new WhatsApp feature, when sending an image, a button with a number 1 appears in a circle in the caption. When clicking this button, the button turns green. WhatsApp then explains the function in a window. The photo or video itself is also not visible to the sender. In the chat there is only the number 1 in a circle and the text ‘photo’ or ‘video’.

WhatsApp warns that users can still take screenshots of the photos and videos that can only be seen once. The feature is an extension of the disappearing messages . Since last year, users can set messages or media to disappear after seven days.

The new feature is now in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android, says WABetaInfo . This usually happens several weeks or months before a function is released in the final version. It is unknown when the feature will come. WhatsApp had already announced the arrival of the View Once mode , but at the time it was unclear what it would look like.
