WhatsApp tests file sharing up to 2GB
WhatsApp allows a selective group of users to share media files up to 2GB in size. Currently, the size limit of files that users can share is still 100MB.
Test participants who want to share files larger than 2GB will be notified that 2GB is the maximum. Regular users receive a message when sending that documents can be a maximum of 100MB. For the time being, this concerns a limited group of users in Argentina who can send files larger than 100MB, reports Wabetainfo after reporting from the Argentine site La Nacion.
The higher file share limit is available to a small group of beta users on Android and iOS. It is unknown whether WhatsApp plans to make the extension available in more countries and whether the feature will eventually come to all users. The service regularly tests new features in different regions. Telegram users have been able to share files of up to 2GB since 2020.
