WhatsApp tests chat migration from iOS phone to Android smartphone

WhatsApp is working on a feature to transfer chat history from iOS devices to an Android phone. Now users have to use unofficial apps that go against WhatsApp’s terms of use.

WABetaInfo shows a screenshot of a new WhatsApp feature that lets a user migrate their chat conversations to Android. It’s not clear if the feature is already working; the image says that the user needs to update his or her WhatsApp app first. The site found the image in a test version of the iOS app.

It’s obvious that WhatsApp is also working on a feature to migrate Android chats to iOS devices, though WABetaInfo hasn’t been able to find any evidence for this yet. The feature is said to be part of WhatsApp’s plans to use the chat app on multiple devices simultaneously. It’s not clear when the chat migration feature will come to Android or iOS devices.
