WhatsApp supports Apple CarPlay with new version

WhatsApp has released a new version that supports Apple CarPlay. This allows CarPlay users to receive, listen to and reply to WhatsApp messages in the car. The support is in version 2.18.20.

After the update, a WhatsApp icon will appear in CarPlay, iCulture reports. After that, it is possible to receive and send messages via Apple’s auto interface. That was not possible until now. WhatsApp has long supported Android Auto with an app.

WhatsApp does not mention the change in its app changelog. There, only ‘bug fixes’ is mentioned as a new element in WhatsApp. In addition to CarPlay support, the new version of WhatsApp also includes a search window for contacts in group conversations and a history of mentions of their own name in group chats, according to iCulture.

CarPlay is Apple’s interface for in-car entertainment systems. For this, users have to connect their iPhone, after which the interface appears on the dashboard. Many major car manufacturers have models on the market with built-in CarPlay support.
