WhatsApp releases voice messages that can be listened to once

WhatsApp extends View Once functionality to voice messages. As a result, when creating a voice message, users can choose to listen to the message only once. Then the message disappears again.

The one-off voice messages receive a separate icon so that the recipient knows that the message can only be listened to once. To make the voice messages listenable once, the user must, before sending the message, press and hold the recording. Then users can press the View Once icon.

The View Once function appeared more than two years ago with photos and videos. WhatsApp reports that the View Once voice messages in coming to all users ‘in the coming days’. The company also warns users that recordings during listening can still be recorded with, for example, a second telephone.
