WhatsApp may test reporting option for status updates in desktop app
WhatsApp is working on the ability to report status updates. The feature was spotted by WABetaInfo, who writes that it will be available in a future beta version of the desktop app.
WABetaInfo shared a screenshot showing the report button on another user’s status update. The option isn’t available yet, but will likely come to the beta version of the desktop app in a future update. It is not yet known when beta testers will have the opportunity to try out the feature.
It is already possible to report a user to WhatsApp by forwarding the last five messages of a conversation or specific messages. Those messages are reviewed by the chat app’s moderators, who check whether the messages conflict with the rules of WhatsApp. Only the person reporting will see that message, the other party will not.
