WhatsApp may get option to send photo in original quality
The Android beta version of WhatsApp includes a feature that allows users to send photos in the original quality. Currently, a degree of compression is still applied, so that the files become smaller.
According to WABetaInfo, which writes more often about upcoming WhatsApp features, update 2.23.2.11 includes the new feature to preserve the full quality of the photo. WhatsApp would add a new setting icon to the drawing tool for this, with which users can set the quality of the photo. It is a feature that will probably be available to everyone in a future version of WhatsApp, but it is still unknown if and especially when that will happen.
Currently, users have three options to set the photo upload quality: automatic, best quality and data saver. The best quality setting produces the least compression, but WhatsApp’s compression algorithm still results in a file that is 80 percent the size of the original file, and photos larger than 2048×2048 pixels are typically resized by WhatsApp.
