WhatsApp lets users choose who they share Status with and adds voting status
WhatsApp gets several new features in the Status function. It will be possible to only post a voice message as Status. In addition, it will be possible to determine exactly with whom a Status is shared, one of the most requested changes for the app.
WhatsApp writes about the new features in a blog post. It’s one of the biggest updates to Status since its launch in 2017.
One of the features is that it will be possible to determine with whom users share a status. Now a Status can only be made public in the app, but Private Audience Selector allows users to choose whether they want to share it with everyone or only with certain contacts. There is also an option to show the status post to all contacts, but to make certain exceptions.
It will also be possible to post voice messages as a status post. These are voice recordings of a maximum of thirty seconds. In addition, users can now respond to a status with emojis. From a swipe menu, they can choose from eight different emojis.
From now on, green circles will also be visible in the list of chats for users who have posted a status. For example, users do not have to specifically go to the Status tab and scroll through a potentially long list of contacts. Finally, link previews will appear in Statuses when users post links.
The features will be available sometime in the coming weeks. That is not per country; worldwide, every user gets the functions in the app.
