WhatsApp lets users choose quality for images just like with video
WhatsApp will offer users the option to share high or low quality images, or have the app automatically determine the quality based on the images. Last week, it turned out that this feature was coming to video sharing.
When uploading images, users will be presented with three options in the future: Auto, Best Quality, and Data Saver. WhatsApp is currently testing the feature in the beta of the WhatsApp Android app with version number 2.21.14.6, Wabetainfo writes.
The addition to the test version of the app for Android comes a week after an identical video file upload feature was added. WhatsApp does not provide details about the three options. For example, it is not clear to what extent compression is applied and it is also unclear on the basis of which the app determines the choice in the automatic setting.
According to Wabetainfo, WhatsApp detects on Auto what the best compression algorithm is on specific images and applies it if the user has enabled Data Saver in Android.
