WhatsApp lets users choose any emoji in response

WhatsApp users will soon be able to use any emoji in response to someone else’s message. Previously, users could only choose from six emojis selected by WhatsApp. Those six remain in the selection menu, but a plus button is added to choose other emojis.

Metas CEO Mark Zuckerberg says that the feature is rolling out to users now, but doesn’t say when all users should have the feature. The emoji reactions have been available in WhatsApp since May; back then it was still six emojis that users could choose from.

With the extended function, all emojis are available, and other skin colors can also be chosen. Users can use additional emojis by long-pressing on a chat message. Then the six emojis that now also appear. In addition, there will be a plus button, where the user can choose from all emojis. The reaction emojis work in both group conversations and individual conversations.
