WhatsApp is working on photo search function to Google images afbeeldingen
WhatsApp is working on a feature to search images sent in chat online. This option directs the user to Google, where the results are displayed. Perhaps WhatsApp wants to make it easier to check fake news.
In order to google a message, the user must select it, writes WABetaInfo. Whoever does this will see three options. ‘Reply privately’ and ‘Message’ are already in the current version of WhatsApp; ‘Search image’ will be added soon. The user will then be notified that the image is being uploaded to Google. WhatsApp then opens the phone browser, where Google shows the results of the search. WABetaInfo only writes about the Android function; It is currently unknown whether the option will also come to iOS.
WhatsApp may be developing this feature to prevent the spread of fake news on the platform. Anyone who can google a photo directly from the app might be more inclined to verify a message. WhatsApp has come up with several measures in recent months to combat fake news on the platform.
WABetaInfo emphasizes that the option is still being tested by WhatsApp and is not yet available for (beta) users. It is not yet known when the option will be available for WhatsApp users. That also applies to three icons that represent male, female and transgender. Beta users can immediately send a new transgender flag.
