WhatsApp is working on fingerprint unlocking for Android version

Spread the love

WhatsApp wants to test fingerprint unlocking in the beta version of the app in Android. The function is among the settings of the 2.19.3 version, but is not yet usable. It is not yet known when it can be applied.

WABetaInfo noted the verification feature via WhatsApp’s Google Play Beta Program. It is not yet available for use as the feature is still in the alpha phase of the development process. Enhancements to the feature will come with future updates.

Users can activate the lock in the settings of the app and register the desired fingerprints. The feature locks the entire app, not just specific conversations. When the sensor cannot read the fingerprint properly, the user can also enter the credentials of the device. The verification function works the same as in WhatsApp’s iOS version.

To apply the authentication if it is available, users must have at least Android Marshmallow and a built-in fingerprint sensor on their device.
