WhatsApp is working on dark mode

WhatsApp is working on a dark mode for its popular chat app. That is what the site WABetainfo claims. It wouldn’t be the first major app to introduce such a mode, recently before YouTube on Android.

WABetainfo’s Twitter account reports that WhatsApp is developing a dark mode. The site doesn’t provide any details, just writes that this is evidenced by “a large number of secret references in recent updates.” It is therefore unclear at what stage the development is and when the mode may become available to users. WABetainfo is a site dedicated to, among other things, getting information about new WhatsApp features by analyzing beta versions.

A dark mode can be found in more and more apps; one of the most recent additions to the feature took place in the YouTube app for Android. macOS 10.14 and the Outlook site are also among recent additions. WhatsApp alternative Telegram has long had a night mode, which uses a dark color palette with white text.
