WhatsApp is testing voice and video calling in desktop app
WhatsApp is likely to release the video calling feature for the desktop app soon. WABetaInfo discovered a beta version of it in the desktop app, although it is not yet available to everyone.
WABetaInfo writes that several users can already activate the feature. These are voice and video calls that have been conducted via the phone app for a few years now. In a new beta of the desktop software, an option to initiate calls appears in the menu and a popup appears when a user is called.
Much further information about the position is not yet known. For example, it is not clear how exactly the audio and video input can be controlled. A connection with the smartphone is still required to use WhatsApp Desktop. For now, only a limited number of users can test the feature, but WABetaInfo expects the feature to be expanded further in the coming weeks.
