WhatsApp growth has remained the same after Facebook takeover announcement

WhatsApp has grown as fast as before after the announcement of the acquisition by Facebook. Although many people said they are leaving the chat service, there is no effect in the figures on the number of active users of the app.

WhatsApp now has 600 million active users worldwide. say director Jan Koum on Twitter. That means that about 10 percent of the world’s population is an active user of the chat service. This means that growth has continued with approximately 25 million active users per month. This growth has been seen since WhatsApp first announced figures in the spring of 2013.

Facebook announced in February that it was acquiring WhatsApp, to which many users reacted angrily and said they were turning their backs on the chat service. Telegram, in particular, was often mentioned as an alternative at the time. Telegram has 35 million users according to its latest figures, but this says little about the number of active users of the chat app. WhatsApp calls a user active if they have sent at least one message in the past month.

WhatsApp does not mention how many users have been added in certain continents, nor does it say how active users are. If growth continues at this rate, WhatsApp will have a billion active users within a year and a half.
