WhatsApp gets stickers and group video calling feature
Facebook has announced some innovations for WhatsApp at its own developer conference F8. This makes it possible to make video calls with a group and there will be support for stickers.
The director of WhatsApp, Mubarik Imam, does not have a lot of details at the conference, according to The Verge at the conference about how video calling with a group works exactly, but from a video shown it was clear that the new functionality makes it possible to video calling up to four people at a time.
WhatsApp will also receive support for stickers, following other apps, such as Facebook Messenger and WeChat, which is popular in China. Facebook gives third parties the opportunity to develop their own collection of stickers. Stickers could already be used in WhatsApp via external apps and there was already support for adding some stickers to photos sent via WhatsApp.
The new functionality will be available to users sometime in the coming months. During the conference, Imam also revealed that WhatsApp chat app now has more than 450 million daily visitors worldwide and over 2 billion minutes of video and audio messages are created every day.
