WhatsApp gets new Windows app with better voice and video chat support
Meta introduces an improved WhatsApp Desktop client for Windows. The new app should load faster and get better support for voice and video calls. The company will also release a new WhatsApp client for Mac and Android tablets at a later date.
meta introduces the new WhatsApp Desktop client in the Microsoft Store, reports Meta. The new app will have a modified interface similar to the mobile version of WhatsApp. The company also claims that the app loads faster than before. In addition, users can now have video chats with up to eight people in the new WhatsApp Desktop client. For voice calls, that maximum number is 32. The company says it will further increase these numbers later.
WhatsApp is also currently working on native clients for Android tablets and macOS. That version for Macs has been available as a public beta since January. The version for Android tablets has also been in the works for some time. Meta does not announce when those clients will become officially available. According to the company, the apps are in “first beta stages.”
