WhatsApp gets a new Windows app with better voice and video chat support
Meta introduces an improved WhatsApp Desktop client for Windows. The new app should load faster and have better support for voice and video calls. The company will also later release a new WhatsApp client for Mac and Android tablets.
Meta introduces the new WhatsApp Desktop client in the Microsoft Store, reports Meta. The new app will have a changed interface that is similar to the mobile version of WhatsApp. The company also claims that the app loads faster than before. Users can now also have video chats with up to eight people in the new WhatsApp Desktop client. For voice calls, the maximum number is 32. The company says it will further increase these numbers later.
WhatsApp is also currently working on native clients for Android tablets and macOS. That version for Macs has been available as a public beta since January. The version for Android tablets has also been in development for some time. Meta does not report when those clients will officially become available. According to the company, the apps are in “early beta stages.”
