WhatsApp extends group limit to 512 users
WhatsApp doubles the number of users that can join a group chat. From now on, the maximum group size is 512 people. The feature has been available through the beta version of the app for a few weeks now and is now available to all users.
The latest version of WhatsApp for Android and iOS makes it possible to chat with 512 people in a group. The feature is currently being released to all users, reports WABetaInfo† Previously it was possible to have a group chat with up to 256 users. Compared to messaging service Telegram, the group size is insignificant; there, up to 200,000 users can join the same group chat. With Signal, that number is a maximum of 1000 users.
WhatsApp is currently testing an option to export backups in Google Drive. The messaging app is also reportedly working on the ability to change text messages after sending. WhatsApp recently received an update that makes it possible to share files up to 2GB. Previously, 100MB was the file limit. Users can now also post reaction emojis to messages in the app.
