WhatsApp beta includes vacation mode to hide conversations
WhatsApp seems to be getting a holiday mode. A beta of the chat application contains references to it. If users archive a conversation while the mode is activated, those conversations will not come back when a new message is sent.
According to WABetaInfo, the functionality is in a beta version of WhatsApp but it is not yet working for users. Vacation mode has been in the works for some time. It is a Do Not Disturb-like setting for the chat program and is housed in the Notifications settings.
The setting is intended for group conversations, for example. Users can already mute them so that they no longer receive notifications, but when opening WhatsApp it will be visible that there are new messages. By archiving the entire chat, it will disappear from the conversation overview. At the moment, such a group conversation comes back from the archive when a new message is posted.
It is not yet known when WhatsApp will make holiday mode available to all users. The chat application regularly tests new functionality in beta, after which it will later become available to all users.
Furthermore, WhatsApp seems to be working on a function to link accounts. Currently, this is only possible in a beta with Instagram and according to WABetaInfo it seems to be a function for WhatsApp Business. It is not yet clear what the results of linking the accounts.
WhatsApp has also made an adjustment that ensures that users no longer see a notification indicator for conversations that are on silent. This concerns the dot that is displayed on the WhatsApp icon on the home screen. This adjustment has already been made for all users.
