WhatsApp beta for iOS includes references to Android to iOS migration tool

The first signs of life for a WhatsApp migration tool that will help users from Android to iOS have been found in a beta version of the iOS app. That tool is already there for migration from iOS to Android, but not the other way around.

Since October of 2021, there is an official tool available to transfer WhatsApp chats from iOS to Android. There are currently still the conditions that the Android phone in that scenario must be supplied with Android 12 from the factory. The developer already announced at the time that a tool for the reverse direction is also planned, but has not yet announced any details, such as a date.

So there is now a development in that area. Beta version 2.22.2.74 of the application contains the sections, images, texts and buttons that indicate the presence of the tool. According to WABetaInfo, the tool is partially present, but not yet functioning. The site extracts the information through data mining. There is still no release date.

Exactly how the tool will transfer data is not yet told. The other tool, for Android to iOS migration, requires at least a Lightning to USB-C cable between the two phones, so it’s likely that a similar scenario will play out when this tool becomes available.

Without the official ones, users are left with unofficial software; its creators often charge money for its use. Reviews on the app stores do claim that these apps actually work.
