WhatsApp allows users to notify each other of new numbers

WhatsApp has added a new feature to its beta app for Android that allows users to send notifications to some or all of their contacts when they switch mobile numbers.

WhatsApp has expanded the Change Number function with a notification option with test version 2.18.97 of the Android app, WaBetaInfo reports. The apps for iOS and Windows do not yet have the function, but according to the WhatsApp site, they will follow shortly.

Change Number can be found under the account settings after the update has been implemented. After entering the old and new number, the user is asked whether WhatsApp should send a notification about this to all contacts, the contacts with whom chats have been conducted, or a selection of contacts.

This is an extension of the existing function in which groups will be notified in any case that their number has changed, and the chat history will be saved.
