The Western version of Dragon Quest XI will be released on September 4 on Steam and for the PlayStation 4. The adapted version of the Japanese RPG will have English voices, while the original will have no voiceovers. The 3DS version will not appear in the West.

In addition to a translation, the Western version of Dragon Quest XI offers a new, higher difficulty, which will be named Draconian Quest. This mode should offer more experienced players a challenge.

Furthermore, publisher Square Enix announces that the menus and interface have been adjusted. These are graphical improvements that should improve navigation. A Camera Mode is also coming to the game, in which players can take pictures of the environment and characters.

Dragon Quest XI was released in Japan last summer. It’s an RPG with a third person perspective. A 3DS version has also been released in Japan, but Square Enix does not make a western version of it.

At the original announcement in 2015, it was already said that there would also be a version for the Nintendo Switch, still codenamed NX at the time. Last year, Nintendo announced that Dragon Quest XI is coming to Switch. Square Enix no longer mentions the Switch version in its announcement of the Western version. It is not clear if and when it will come.
