Western Digital introduces WD Blue SN580 SSD with PCIe 4.0 interface

Western Digital introduces a successor to its WD Blue SN570 SSD. The new SN580 has a PCIe 4.0 interface and achieves speeds of up to 4150MB/s. The SSD will be available in capacities from 250GB to 2TB with recommended prices from 58 to 219 euros.

Western Digital replaces the PCIe 3.0 interface from the SN570 with a PCIe 4.0 interface for the new SN580. The SN580 models with 1 and 2TB storage achieve sequential read and write speeds of 4150MB/s. The 250 and 500GB variants achieve slightly lower speeds of 4000MB/s. The company does not say which Nand type the SSD will receive, but according to Anandtech This again concerns TLC-nand. The SN580 also has SLC cache, although Western Digital does not mention the amount. The lifespan is up to 900 written terabytes for the 2TB variant.

The WD Blue SN580 will be available immediately in variants of 250GB, 500GB, 1TB and 2TB. The recommended retail prices are 58, 77, 110 and 219 euros respectively. In practice, the sales prices of WD SSDs are usually lower.
