Wehkamp adds ar view to iOS app
Web store wehkamp has added ar view to its iOS app. The application uses Apple’s ARKit to give users the ability to virtually place furniture in their environment at full size.
For the time being, the augmented reality display only works with furniture from the Torino series by wehkamp. Users of wehkamp’s iOS app can scan their room with their iPhone’s camera and then place a sofa or armchair nearby. It is possible to place several pieces of furniture in one environment at the same time.
Wehkamp says in his announcement that more furniture will be available for ar display later this year. The functionality only works with iPhones, starting with iPhone 6s with at least iOS version 11.0. The company says the feature is not yet available for Android devices, but does not say if such functionality is coming.
Ikea already released its Place app for iOS last year, which also uses ARKit. The Ikea app contains thousands of products that can be placed virtually in an environment.
