Website ranking service Alexa.com will stop next year
Amazon will stop using Alexa website ranking service next year. The service was used to compare the most popular websites on the Internet, and offered SEO and analytics tools. Amazon gives no reason for stopping.
Alexa.com will shut down on May 1, 2022, Amazon’s subsidiary writes. From that date, the services can no longer be used. It is not known what will happen to the domain name. It may be used to link to products with Amazon’s voice assistant. Existing subscriptions will continue until May 1. As of Wednesday, the service no longer accepts new subscribers. Alexa points out that users can export their data before quitting.
Alexa was founded 25 years ago and has always been a popular tool for comparing websites. The service collected traffic data from major websites and gave paying customers insight into their competition. Alexa also offered seo tools.
