Webshop has already sold Intel Core i9-12900KS with clock speed up to 5.5GHz

An American web store has already sold copies of Intel Core i9-12900KS. That processor has not yet been formally announced. Intel has already demonstrated the Special Edition processor with a high turbo clock speed more than once.

Photos of the processor and packaging can be seen on VideoCardz. A reader sent it to the site after purchasing the CPU from an online store. The processor was offered for $ 790, but it is not known whether that will also be the suggested retail price. The regular Core i9-12900K currently costs about 600 euros.

Intel calls the processor ‘Core i9-12900KS’ as expected. When the company demonstrated the processor at the beginning of this year, the name was not yet mentioned. Intel used the best chips for these processors so they can be clocked high. The maximum clock speed of one P-core is 5.5GHz. That is 300MHz more than the regular i9-12900K. The base clock is also 200MHz higher. To make that possible, the processor can also consume more, up to a maximum of 260W.

The code ‘srldd’ can be seen on the processor. According to VideoCardz, this is a batch that still has AVX-512 support. Intel has previously indicated that it will disable that support hardware with new revisions of Alder Lake processors.

Earlier this year, Intel said the processor will be shipped to system builders by the end of the first quarter. The photos show that there is also packaging for individual sales. It is not yet known when Intel will officially launch the chip.
