Web version Google Drive gets keyboard shortcuts for cut and paste

Google Drive Web gets support for keyboard shortcuts. For example, users can use Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V to copy files to other folders. This also works between different tabs. When pasting into Docs files and emails, users are provided with a link.

The key combinations Ctrl + C, Ctrl + X and Ctrl + V allow users to move or copy files within Google Drive, just like with other programs within Windows. On Macs, the key combinations work too, with the ⌘ button instead of Ctrl. Google says the key combinations work in the Chrome browser.

The key combinations let users move or copy one or more files within Drive. Users can move or copy these files to other folders, or copy a file to an email or Google Docs file. Ctrl + Shift + V or ⌘ + Shift + V allow users to place shortcuts within folders to files in other folders. With Ctrl + Enter or ⌘ + Enter, users can open files or folders in a new tab, for example to view multiple files at once.

Google will bring the keyboard shortcuts to all users within the next week. Users under the Rapid Release schedule will get the feature by Sunday; Scheduled Release users will get the feature no later than Friday, June 1. The feature is coming to both Workspace customers and users with personal Google accounts.
