Wear OS smartwatch LG has analog hands

LG has presented a smartwatch with Google’s Wear OS, equipped with analog hands. The Watch W7 has several software tricks to use the analog hands to display data from the smartwatch.

The Watch W7 has a 1.2″ LCD with a hole in the center where the hands protrude. The LCD has a resolution of 360×360 pixels, LG says. The manufacturer uses the hands in normal mode to show the time. If necessary, users can tap the top of the right-hand side to make the text on the screen slide up or down slightly to make it readable, then the hands try to move to the side.

The analog hands can also display data that the smartwatch collects, such as information from the altimeter, compass or pedometer. In addition, it is a regular smartwatch with Wear OS. It runs on an outdated Snapdragon Wear 2100-soc from Qualcomm with 768MB of memory and 4GB of storage. The stainless steel housing is up to 45mm in diagonal and 12.9mm thick.

The watch is compatible with standard 22mm straps. A heart rate sensor and NFC are missing. LG has not yet announced the price and release date of the Watch W7 for the Benelux. The manufacturer will put the watch on sale in the United States later this month for $450.
