WB Games Fixes Some of Batman: Arkham Knight’s Performance Issues
After the latest update to Batman: Arkham Knight seemingly leaked out on the game’s beta channel and was rolled back, the latest patch for Arkham Knight’s performance issues is now available to all owners of the game on Steam.
WB Games community administrator Yorick says some of the known issues will be resolved with the interim patch. For example, frame rate hitches must be reduced, the use of ram and vram has been optimized, all gpus must perform better, the low-resolution texture bugs have been solved and the use of a mechanical hdd no longer leads to hitches. Also, the options menu has been expanded with more settings, including probably a customizable fps cap, which was also seen in the beta patch.
Warner Bros. states that it is still working on support for sli and Crossfire and a bug that only occurs in Windows 7 with 8GB of ram with an Nvidia GPU during long gaming sessions. Work is also underway on undisclosed issues with AMD GPUs under Windows 10. Finally, the company is working on adding support for the DLC and season pass content and the Photo Mode.
Several users report that the situation has improved. Others, however, say that they are again suffering from new texture bugs and crashes. In any case, the game isn’t ready to go back on sale yet. When that will eventually happen is unknown.
Batman: Arkham Knight was pulled from Steam at the end of June after many users complained about performance issues in the game. Frame rates were low, the game stuttered a lot, sli didn’t work, and the maximum frame rate was limited to 30fps. All in all, Arkham Knight has been on sale for two days. Publisher Warner Bros. apologized and said gamers who had already purchased Arkham Knight on Steam could get their money back. Why Warner Bros. did not postpone the release, while the difficulties were already known before the release, is unclear. WB Games has been working on a solution for more than two months now.
