Waze is testing a system that warns of roads where many accidents occur
Navigation app Waze is testing a new notification system that warns users if they are driving on a track where accidents have occurred in the past. The feature was discovered by Israeli users in the beta version of the app.
The new notification system is called ‘History of crashes’ in the English beta version of Waze and uses reports from Waze users about a specific road. The Israeli website Geektime reports of development. The notification takes the form of a text at the bottom of the screen.
According to Geektime, Waze would only show the notification once because the navigation app does not want to cause its users to worry unnecessarily. The function can also be disabled via the settings menu. Waze has not yet officially communicated about the new feature. It is also not clear whether she will actually get there. The developers of the navigation app merged with those of Google Maps at the beginning of December to save costs. Earlier this year, the app added support for Apple Music and removed carpooling functionality.
