Apple has announced watchOS 5 for its Watch line of watches. One of the new features is called ‘Walkie-Talkie’ and is an app for sending short messages to contacts via voice, Apple announced at the WWDC developer conference.

In addition to Walkie-Talkie, the Siri Suggestions app is also coming to the Apple Watch on watchOS 5, the manufacturer says. Suggestions is also in iOS 12. In addition, the Siri watchface will receive support for third-party apps, so that users can reach those apps faster. The digital assistant no longer needs to hear the command ‘hey siri’. When users move the watch towards them, the watch automatically listens. Another app that will work on the Apple Watch is Podcasts. The subscriptions and place where you have paused will be synced between devices.

Developers can also leverage web content in apps through WebKit. From now on, the Apple Watch will be able to automatically detect workouts and will start logging. The Watch will also indicate when it detects that you have stopped.

The new version of watchOS also supports yoga and hiking, among other things. Also, users can challenge each other to a seven-day competition to move as much as possible and achieve goals. The watchOS 5 upgrade will be released this fall. The first Apple Watch will not get the upgrade, Series 1, 2 and 3 will.
