Gotham Knights will not be released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 25. The game will only be released for the PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. Warner Bros. scraps the versions for the old consoles to give players “the best experience possible”.

In March, developer WB Games Montréal announced that action game Gotham Knights would be released on October 25 for both current and previous generation consoles. The studio has now revealed an extensive gameplay video and announced that the game will not be released on the older consoles after all.

The developer writes in a faq that the PS4 and Xbox One versions have been dropped to give players “the best possible experience.” Further details are not given, but it is obvious that it takes too much time to optimize the game for all platforms and make it playable on the older consoles.

Gotham Knights has already been postponed once. The game announced in 2020 should have been released in 2021, but that will be at the end of this year. The action game is from the creators of the Batman Arkham games and offers similar gameplay.

In an extensive gameplay video, the developer shows how Red Hood and Nightwing take on criminals from the Batman universe. The game also features characters Batgirl and Robin, but no gameplay has yet been shown for them. Each character has its own play style and unique characteristics. The game can be played single player and also in co-op. The game will have a suggested retail price of $70 and the PC version will be coming to Steam and the Epic Games Store.
