Warhammer 40,000: Darktide PC release pushed back to November 30
Fatshark will release the Windows version of its co-op shooter Warhammer 40,000: Darktide on November 30. The game would first be released on September 13 for PC and the Xbox Series X|S. The release of the Xbox version has also been delayed; it should be ‘released shortly after the PC version’.
Fatshark let you know that it needs more time to improve Darktide’s performance and stability. “Postponing a game is arguably one of the hardest decisions a developer has to make, but we hope this shows that we are taking the time and doing everything we can to bring you the best version of the game.” writes the developer. Furthermore, Fatshark reports that betas will be available from mid-August, which interested parties can sign up for via the Darktide site.
It’s the third time that Warhammer 40,000: Darktide’s release has been delayed. The game was announced in 2020 and would be released the following year. In the end, the release of the game was postponed to the spring of 2022, due to the consequences of the corona pandemic. In April, the release date was moved to September.
The game takes place in the science fiction universe of Warhammer 40,000. That’s a distant future where humanity is led by an undead, 48,000-year-old God-emperor who only uses his gigantic empire for war. And those wars abound: the Imperial armies are constantly fighting aliens, heretics and mutants throughout the universe. The game has been announced for Xbox Series X|S and Windows.
Fatshark has also previously made games based on the fantasy counterpart of Warhammer 40,000. It concerns Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide and Vermintide 2, which were released in 2015 and 2018 respectively. The gameplay of Darktide resembles that of the Vermintide games. Players must work in groups through levels teeming with enemies. Many of them are weak, but others can deal much more damage or have special powers.
